McPrice 'Mac' Myers has been crafting high-expression wines of balance, value, and place since 2002.

A lifelong, self-proclaimed "food and wine geek,” Mac was a quick study and almost immediately had the press lauding his wines from near and far. His passion for unique sites in Paso Robles and California's Central Coast, combined with his meticulous attention to detail in the cellar, result in stunning wines that more than live up to the hype.

Our Story

Over the last two decades, McPrice (Mac) Myers has been crafting wines of depth and balance that showcase the multiple terroirs and climates of the Central Coast – from Santa Barbara to Paso Robles. Mac produced his first vintage in 2002 with half a ton of grapes in a small cooperative in Paso Robles. From that humble beginning, Mac has developed a growing portfolio of wines with broad appeal. In 2014, Mac moved the winery to the current site nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Adelaida District. Over the years, McPrice Myers wines have garnered increasing attention from wine lovers and critics alike.

On a cold December day, a wine enthusiast walked into the rustic McPrice Myers tasting room to try Mac’s wines for the first time. Venus Lai signed up for the wine club and was immediately wowed by the depth and sophistication of the wines. Little did anyone know that this would be the beginning of a journey that two years later would lead to a partnership to purchase the property - 84 acres of Adelaida District land that they named Belle Terre (a play on Beautiful Earth – one of Mac’s flagship wines), which was home to the winery, 20 acres of vineyards, and a house sitting atop the hill.

The property had good bones - rich terroir, excellent climate, and a top-notch production site, but there was so much more potential to be realized. Mac and Venus shared a vision to transform the property into an experience that would live up to the quality and breadth of the wines. In 2018, the Hilltop House was transformed into a luxurious, modern vacation home. They plan to showcase both the wines and the property by increasing the vineyard acreage, creating a new hospitality & tasting facility (opening in 2024), and elevating the experience for wine club members. In 2020, McPrice Myers began releasing wines from The Estate Vineyard, opening a new chapter in its diverse offerings. Above all else, we will remain true to our roots in delivering the wines and experiences our loyal customers have come to expect!

Our Team

VENUS LAI - OWNER & STYLE GURU

With a PhD in Molecular & Medical Genetics, Venus has successfully led cutting edge scientific research at two leading biotechnology companies - Regeneron and Amgen. In addition to her work in therapeutic drug development, she has always been passionate about the science and products of fermentation - wine, whiskey, beer, and sake. She even used to host “Fermentation Seminars” for her colleagues – little did she know that this would become the focus of her life! Venus now lends her inventive nature, enthusiasm for wine, considerable business skills and her impeccable sense of style to the McPrice Myers Winery.

ADRIAN PEREZ - ASSOCIATE WINEMAKER & BRAND PARTNER

Adrian Perez runs a CrossFit bootcamp out of the cellar and enjoys doing pull-ups on the grape hopper. He’s a Richard Petty on the forklift and can pick up a quarter off the cellar floor. Fluent in music, and equipped with a keen ear, he utilizes the reverb of the winery’s empty stainless steel tanks to amplify his belting of ‘90s alternative rock ballads. Without hyperbole, he is a true renaissance man, and appreciates the finer things in life: a massage, a hot springs soak, vegetating on a Caribbean beach and a glass of wine to cap the events of the day. Salúd!

LIZ GILLINGHAM - DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS & BRAND PARTNER

Liz Gillingham comes from a nerd background, so she fits right in around here! With a background in animal science, logistics, and science education tech support, wine was the reasonable next career, right? We rely on Liz to keep things running smoothly while the wine is being made, and she enjoys - sometimes a little too much - wrangling our vendors, customers, and team. When she isn’t running around the property, you might find her singing karaoke, fostering orphaned kittens, or reading some science fiction, contributing to the “nerd” title with gusto.

Aron Nevarez - Director of viticulture

Born in El Durazno village in Durango, Mexico, relocated to Paso Robles at 14. His expertise in Rhône varietals grew during stints at Tablas Creek and GlenRose Vineyards from 1994 to 1997. Joining Rozet (now Derby) Vineyards in 1998 as Vineyard Manager, he honed his skills alongside John Alban for six years before transforming Denner Vineyards into a premier location for Rhône and Bordeaux varieties in 2004. Aron's commitment to sustainable farming emphasizes minimizing chemical use, aiming for enduring vineyard success.

BILLY GRANT - HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
& BRAND PARTNER

Billy has been involved in the Paso Robles wine industry since 2002, starting out as the co-founder of Four Vines. In the past 20 years, Grant has served as partner, investor, consultant, and resource to wineries and affiliated businesses in the Paso Robles area. Affectionately known as the loudest guy in the room, Grant has been earnest in promoting the Paso Robles wine region by increasing market reach for brands with creative and unconventional approaches.
